With hugs we left our friends Dan & Sheila near Indianapolis and headed east.
I didn't see a whole lot of camping options that appealed to me in our 200-mile range, but I ended up settling on Lake Hill Campground a few miles off of U.S. 35 a little west of Chillicothe, Ohio.
It was about a 215-mile drive. And the Indiana part of the drive just reaffirmed my previous claims that Indiana's roads are the worst in the country, even the interstates.
About 45 minutes out, I called the campground to make sure they had openings. My back-up plan was the Walmart in Chillicothe, but it wasn't necessary. We were booked into Site 12 at Lake Hill.
It's a rural campground back a narrow road, and the turn in is easy to miss if you aren't paying attention. You go up a hill, pass what looks like an office, and continue on to the orange cones where you walk up the hill to the owner's house to register. We arrived around 2:00 p.m.
They have 30-amp water/electric sites for $28, full hook-up 30-amp sites for $30, and full hook-up 50-amp sites for $32. Site 12 is a 30-amp full hook-up site.
We drove up the gravel road and around the curve and into the cul de sac for our site. The site is a pull-in/back-out site since the utilities are on the left. We don't see a whole lot of those. We pulled in with the Jeep attached and then unhitched for tomorrow morning's departure.
This campground had a lot of RVs in sites, but it looked like they were seasonal. We only saw a couple of people. And it was very, very quiet.
We got some work done on our 2020 Spring Educational Rally and a couple future endeavors, and Linda made us an egg and sausage dinner.
I periodically checked in on the playoff baseball games and watched the strange finish to the Dodgers - Nationals game. That's one the Dodgers will be second-guessing for a long time.
It was a late-night for me due to the game, but we won't be leaving early in the morning.
Tomorrow, we're doing another 200-mile drive to a state park in West Virginia as we turn south. We've been to Camp Creek State Park a couple of times in the past. It's a pretty little park convenient to I-77, and the Mash Fork Campground has 26 sites that all have electric hook-ups. A third of them are electric-only, a third are water/electric, and a third have full hook-ups.
We're ahead of schedule in getting to Myrtle Beach for the RV show, so we may stay a couple nights before moving on. We'll see.
