It's September 11, and it's always tough to write on a date that is so memorable and somber. I'll just say, we have not forgotten.
And another piece of our Alaska trip ties in. Back in Denali National Park, when we did our guided Discovery Hike, one of our guides had previously been working at the United Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. As we sat on that beautiful hillside taking a rest, we had a lovely discussion about the memorial with Ranger Kelly.
It's one place we have not yet been, and Kelly's descriptions just increased our desire to go. On this 9/11, we just wanted to add that piece of our amazing Alaska journey that I didn't write about before.
We've been traveling pretty hard (for us), so we opted to sit tight at Shady Rest RV Park for another night.
Again, the Wi-Fi is really good, so we got caught up on a few administrative things, and Linda decided to do a little laundry in their four washer/dryer laundry. She also made a post office run.
As we're getting closer to the end of this journey, we have to start refocusing on our business and business partners in order to generate some income to cover at least a part of the trip expenses.
We are once again participating in Full-Time Freedom Week (FTFW), an online collaboration of RVers with websites, blogs, YouTube channels, etc. to provide a few days of educational videos for future full-timers, new full-timers, and just any RVers that may be interested.
Last year, the event was held Thanksgiving week, but this year it is earlier - November 5 -8. And there are four options this year.
Like last year, you can sign up for a Free Pass that lets you have access to all the videos on each day they are released. And they have paid options that allow you access to the videos for 30 days, one year, and lifetime. You can always sign up for a Free Pass and upgrade later, and if you sign up using this link - Full-Time Freedom Week Tickets & Registration - we get credit. They're having a contest to see who can get the most sign-ups, and I'm the competitive sort, so we're going to try to win.
I'll be posting more information about FTFW in the coming days and weeks, but I just wanted to throw it out there with this year's dates. It's really a worthwhile event, and we're looking forward to participating again.
Also, we finalized our contract for the October 18 - 20 Myrtle Beach RV Show in South Carolina which we will be hustling to when we get back to the Lower 48. Our seminar topics and times are listed on the "Seminars" page.
And we worked a little on our 2020 Spring Educational Rally to be held in Tennessee next April. We are, of course, going to add a seminar on RVing To Alaska, and we have a certified RV tech that is going to be on-site and scheduling appointments. We also have a few more things to finalize that we hope to get taken care of in the next few weeks.
In the late afternoon, it started raining and it rained all night.
With all our salmon, Linda started looking for some different recipes to try. She found a good one and adapted it to Keto for us - another delicious option and a keeper.
Well, that's really all I have for today. Tomorrow, we're going to make it a long travel day, so we then have just a short day the next day to get to Jasper National Park. Until next time.
Howard,
You talk a lot about the Keto diet in your posts. I am curious about your carb intake. What percent of carbs are you taking in on a daily basis? Thanks, Warren

Hi Warren, The standard Keto plan is 5- 10% of daily calories from carbs, 15 - 30% from protein, and 60 - 75% from fat.
We shoot for 20 grams or less of "net carbs" per day. Net carbs are total grams of carbs in a food minus grams of dietary fiber minus grams of sugar alcohol like xylitol and erythritol. Because fiber carbs and sugar alcohol carbs aren't broken down and processed by your body like carbs from sugars and starches, we subtract them out.
