The forecast was for rain today, so we didn't really plan anything. I was going to get up early and cook a big batch of bacon and eggs, and Steve & Esther were going to pitch in some keto-pancakes. But, I really wasn't hungry after last night's wonderful dinner. I don't think I've ever not been hungry enough for bacon and eggs.
Esther & Steve were relieved that we called off breakfast as they didn't get up until 9:00.
Linda was going to go beach combing since the forecast had changed and it looked like the rain was going to hold off. Esther was going to go with her.
I, however, designated it a "work" day in the RV since we had good Verizon 4G service in the campground, a rare treat. And Steve was going to take it easy and do some reading.
Eventually, Linda and Esther headed out and they went north along the coast to Eagle Beach. The tide was way out, and though the beach combing wasn't good, they had great views of the mountains across the channel.
Then they checked out other beaches as they worked their way back toward town.
And that was pretty much it for the photos of beach combing for the day.
They went to a few other beaches and did a lot of driving. But they eventually ended up back at Outer False Point on Douglas Island where Linda had such good success with beach glass a few days ago.
Late in the day, on their way back, they stopped to take pictures of the fantastic Humpback fountain in Juneau just below the Douglas Island bridge.
I didn't get around the city much, but that was easily the coolest thing I saw in Juneau and Linda got this great photo.
They got back sometime after five, and the plan was to have salmon for dinner. Esther was worn out, so she begged off, while Steve chopped up mushrooms, Linda made an avocado salsa, and I cooked the fish on the griddle.
Another day ends with another great meal. We decided to skip the campfire for tonight, and have an early bedtime.
Well, the other three had an early bedtime. I stayed up well into the night going through photos and writing. I checked the forecast for tomorrow, and it too had changed from a rainy day to a slight chance for rain. It was our last day in Juneau, and I didn't want to waste it, so I checked out various hikes and tours.
In my prior research, I had an eye on a boat tour into Tracy Arm Fjord. But it required an early morning departure, and it would take all day. Linda had already decided she was going to make a big Costco run as it was her last chance until we get to Anchorage, and she was counting on me going with her. And Esther & Steve had said they were pretty much "boat tripped" out.
I may have to go myself, but it will require Linda dropping me off early and me bailing out on the grocery run. We'll see what happens.
