Tell Linda to pick them small...as they grow larger, they loose texture and become very soft and stringy inside.

Most people assume that the larger the veggie the better but squash, like most other vegetables, are actually much more flavourful, have better texture and more easily digestible when picked young. Think young green beans, young potatoes, young lettuce, etc...

Enjoy those lovely squash. Be aware that the young blossoms off of the smallest squash are also edible and can be stuffed and eaten as well.

Hey Guy,

Yes, we always picked them small when I was a kid. And Steve & Tina were telling us how much they love cooking stuffed zucchini blossoms.

We unloaded all we had yesterday, but there will be lots more.

Wish I were there to enjoy them with you!

Those strawberries you had earlier this month looked absolutely fabulous!

The weather out here on the West Coast has been miserable the past 3 months....all sun and no rain (you would have loved it)...just started raining this morning after 3 months of negligible precipitation. Yippee!!!

We are still on level 3 of a 4 level water restriction system and are expecting to hit the final level soon (probably by the beginning of next month) They are saying, regarding the colour of grass, that "brown is the new green" Can't even water our flowers much anymore and it's getting worse!

Oh well, come the fall, the rains will begin again and not let up 'till the spring!

Zucchini bread is another very good way to use up excess zucchini...

Something I've ALWAYS done with Zucchini & Yellow Squash is first fry up some sliced Potatoes & Onions 'til almost done; then add sliced Yellow and/or Zucchini Squash or both to finish cooking the Potatoes & Onions. Add S & P to taste along with a dash of Garlic Powder or fresh Garlic. Makes a yummy side dish!
