Howard, you sound so much like me. I don't like missing those small windows of opportunity and always have a plan in my back pocket. Thank goodness John usually is game, as well. And I don't enjoy not completing what we set out to do. I would sulk, also!! That's what happened when we couldn't summit Wheeler Peak in Great Basin. Now we have to go back and complete that mission! Kayaking Lake Superior in an inflatable could be dangerous. Be careful!

So glad to hear nothing and no one had any water damage. Sorry you didn't make it to the caves. We took a tour of the Apostle Islands sea caves and it was fabulous. Turns out the weather was such that we could have done it with our non-sea kayaks but it just happened to be a great day. We really loved the Apostle Islands area.

Seems the choices this summer are extreme heat in the south or lots of rain in the north;o( Sorry the plans didn't pan out, but glad your dry bag test was a success!!!

This is such a beautiful area, albeit challenging to "view" in iffy weather! Always a good idea to field test your equipment and glad your dry bags passed :-) Early PJs are always a sound alternative.

Never underestimate the power of the Great Lakes, Howard. Please be careful out there!

Things can go sideways so quickly on the water.

We had a similar experience but the water was so cold we were worried about hypothermia. Luckily that was not an issue for you!

One thing we did learn from that however, make sure you tie your dry bags to the boat or they will float off!
