Yep it's pricy. The cool things about the NC mountains is that you can have a great time dropping $$$$$ at the Grove Park Inn or the Biltmore or you can spend a whole week visiting the parkway and hiking to waterfalls. There's something for everyone.

Our local Costco (Raleigh, NC) carries discounted Biltmore tickets, in the section with gift cards and movie tickets and such. I can't recall this price, but it could be another option for Rally attendees.

Loved this/your tour. That estate was on our bucket list for "next time" so it was great to read some of the history and see some pictures. I get such a kick out of Howard's value meter and Linda just going ahead and booking the tours and extras she wanted. Sounds like so many of us! 😄
Your info, as always, was well presented and helpful to all coming to the rally.
Love you two!

Sherry & Jesse

We did a tour of mansions in Newport, RI some year ago. The current price is $31.50 to visit 5 of them from http://www.newportmansions.org/ . That seems more of a value to me.

Thank you, Howard, for the very nice tour. It was informative and provided me with a look I will probably never see in person.

I agree way too much money. I think what was more fascinating about this house was that they had to build a railroad line and housing for the workers first because it was so out of the way of anything. G

Enjoyed your pictures and info about Biltmore. We visited in 1966 on our honeymoon. We parked right at he front door (no extra charge) and our tickets were $2.50 each! Times have changed.

Glad to hear so much acreage went to the National Forest. I would love the conservatory and the grounds. Thanks for a great tour :-)
