We've been very lucky with the weather. But we're expecting some rain sometime this evening. Hopefully, it will hold off at least until our "Open Rig Walk-throughs" are complete.
We had coffee ready at 8:00 and started seminars at 8:30. First, we did our "Internet On The Road". With so many folks that are used to sticks & bricks fast cable and DSL internet connections and business T1 lines and streaming video, we had to lower expectations for full-time mobile internet.
After going over the most popular internet access for RVers, then we just recommended Chris & Cherie's (Technomadia) The Mobile Internet Handbook - 2014 US RVers Edition.
We also pointed them to Chris & Cherie's RV Mobile Internet Resource Center, and their Mobile Internet Aficianado's membership and Mobile Internet Advising service. Chris & Cherie also donated two Mobile Internet Aficiando premium memberships with Mobile Internet Handbooks as door prizes. Thanks guys!
Next, we covered "Choosing Campgrounds" and we ended the half-day session with "Boondocking/Solar".
RV-Dreams Family Members Greg & Cori, have started a company called RV Solar Solutions. They do RV solar installations, and they offered a special deal to the Rally attendees. They also offer a special discount to RV-Dreams readers that mention the code on the ad below.
While I was doing the more technical aspects of Solar, Linda did a "ladies only" breakout session for those that were interested.
After lunch, we started our "Open Rig Walk-throughs" at 1:00. About half of the attendee RVs were open for tours. We feel it's important that those looking for RVs and those new to RVing get a chance to go through "lived in" RVs and ask questions about modifications, storage, and likes and dislikes.
In addition to the "lived in" RVs, Deb Schmucker from Tiara RV Sales in Elkhart had four fifth wheels on display: DRV Mobile Suites, Heartland Landmark, Keystone Montana, and Thor Redwood.
And Jeff from Total Value RV brought a Forest River Berkshire 40-foot diesel motorhome for touring.
With the RV Manufacturer Open House this past week, it was no easy task to get RVs here for the Rally, so we really appreciate that Tiara RV Sales and Total Value RV came through for us.
While Linda & I were getting the Ag Hall ready for our final dinner and party, a squall moved through. Fortunately, it came between the end of the "Open Rig Walk-throughs" and dinner at 6:00. Whew. :)
Tonight's party theme was "Glow Party". Linda had all kinds of decorations including glowing center pieces and bracelets and necklaces.
Steve worked hard to put RV-Dreams in colored lights.
Jimmie Kay jumped right in and became our face painter using glow-in-the-dark paint.
And some, like Jan & Dave, went all out in their glow.
George & Valerie's "RV-Dreams" showed up in the blacklight.
After our delicious brisket and roast turkey dinner from Nelson's, our DJ, Rob from Total Impact DJ Services, got us on the dance floor.
We had a great time, but as usual, the party wound down between 8:00 & 9:00. By this time in the week, we've learned that folks have a short party stamina, so we end at 9:00.
By the time the DJ packs up, we usually don't get home until 10:00 or so. But we have a good time and it's a great way to end a wonderful week.
Tomorrow, we'll have our farewell breakfast and say our "See you laters" to this wonderful group of people. :)
Very neat idea, Linda! Looks like everyone was really getting into the glow lights. Clever!!
