After some rough nights of hotel sleeping, we slept great back in Herman & Rita's cottage on Farren Lake.
It was a cool morning, and then the day turned beautiful.
But before we enjoyed the weather, we had to get some "work" done. I wrote Journal entries for our last couple of days in Algonquin Provincial Park, and Linda worked on Rally registrations, emails, and other administrative items.
I also worked on our route back to Bremen, Indiana to pick up our newly painted fifth wheel. We're heading out tomorrow (Wednesday) and we told them we'll be arriving late Thursday afternoon.
Linda did a few loads of laundry, and started getting our packing organized. She spent a little time chatting with Esther, Kathy, Rita, and Allie, and I took a short break to do a little reading out on the deck overlooking the lake in the wonderful sunshine.
Late in the afternoon, we joined the family for Happy Hour behind the other cottage. John, Allie's boyfriend, had come in while we were gone, so we got to know him a little while we chatted next to the lake.
As it got dark, we retired to "our" cottage for a little stir fry dinner Esther and Linda whipped up. And we topped it off with some blueberry pie and ice cream. :)
After dinner, around 9:00, we walked back over and sat around an outdoor fire with the family. Allie roasted marshmallows and made s'mores for those that wanted them.
The stars sparkled in all their glory in the dark night sky over the lake, and it just seemed to be a perfect ending to our time here in the Tay Valley spent with great friends.
We headed off to bed with the eerily beautiful calls of the loons fresh in our minds. We'll always have fond memories of this place, and we'll always be grateful for the opportunity to have a temporary "home" in such a peaceful locale while our real home was getting a makeover. Thanks and hugs to Esther & Steve, Herman & Rita, Kathy & Geoff, and the whole family that made our stay so wonderful and relaxing. :)
Tomorrow our focus changes to the excitement of seeing our rig with its new paint job, and getting prepared for the upcoming Fall Rally. Oh, and between those two events, we'll be flying to Raleigh to speak at the North Carolina RV Dealers Association Fall RV Show.
So, we're turning the page on our 2014 Canadian visit, and we'll start our next short chapter of RV life in northern Indiana. See you back in "the states" very soon. :)
Thanks for taking me back to Algonquin. While we usually went in on the west side or the northeast side of the park it was still great reading about you hikes and paddles. Thanks much. Two things to mention. I too used to dread portages but when you are in a canoe for a couple of hours it was nice to get out and stretch your legs a bit. Also a day hiking in the rain is better than a day at work in a climate controlled office. Safe travels. Harry
