Howard, your post about the VA couldn't have come at a better time for us. We are with mom and dad in Sacramento area, and one of my sisters and I are attending a VA Benefits informational meeting next Wednesday. As with your dad, they make too much to get first level benefit, but in the near future, few more years perhaps, they will need more assistance. I thought they would not qualify for help, but now it looks like they should. Thanks a bunch. --Dave (GoingRvWay.com)

Sometimes life just gets in the way;o)) We truly understand and we'll all be here when you get done all you gotta do!! Just happy to know all is well...just busy:o))

Glad you're squeezing in time with friends - you sound way too busy!! I'm sure the preliminary effort will be time well spent when the time comes for the folks to make a move. It surely gives them a sense of security to know you're on top of it. Remember to breathe - both of you!

Why would you get new awnings BEFORE a paint job? Wouldn't they be in the way? I know the shop I contacted said basically everything external would be removed (even the caulking).

I'm not sure what's going on with my blog roll but yours doesn't show up all the time and when it does I realize I'm behind. Just want you to know how much I like the new picture of the two of you. We went through with my father in 2010 what you are going through now with your parents. Really wish I had had the information you provided recently on the veteran's benefits.

Someone posted on Facebook about whether they should attend your fall rally in Indiana and I strongly encouraged them to attend! I told them they would learn a lot and have fun!!

Dealing with the issues related to aging parents can be a challenge, but it is also a time to cherish. As hard as it was for us to work through those issues with our parents, we wouldn't have traded it for the world. Just being there with them lets them know that everything will be OK. It is definitely a special time. We all wish you well and are more than willing to take a back seat to your mom and dad. Best wishes!
