Putting this hike on our Hike List for our return trip to GSMNP!!

Glad to hear that your hard work at getting in shape is paying off... no problems with the elevation:o))

Can't wait to read about the Mt. Le Conte adventure!! Have fun and be safe:o)

Sounds like fun to get back on the trail again. Boy, the views here on the east just aren't the same. Good luck Thursday with your two day hike. I am sure it will be a blast. But do watch for ticks.

Was thinking last week that we hadn't seen a dead tree photo is quite awhile....That hike looks like a perfect variety of terrain and great views (although I'd be a little hesitant heading to a place called Jump Off). Enjoy your day of rest before the big adventure!!

Glad it worked out good!! No breathing problems!! 😃

Glad you are hiking again.

Hi Howard and Linda, I was fortunate enough to hike the AT from GA to ME, starting in 2000 (400 miles) and completing the remaining 1600 plus miles in 2002. For me it was the adventure of a lifetime and something I would have loved to have done again but unfortunately my knees aren't so willing anymore.
Thru-hiking the AT is a real social experience as one meets other hikers of all age groups who come from all walks of life.

I think I have every book ever written by an AT Thru hiker. I REALLY wanted to do it but could never get the time off and then we met you guys and well....now we're full timers but if you want to hike parts of it, I'm happy to go along. :-) Really amazing that you met another couple going to LeConte tomorrow. What are the chances???
