I think u will need a small (scoop) shovel to bury up your remains....for toilet?? If that is what the hikers need to do I don't know.

Looks like a great training run. Hope you can walk today:) Good luck with the rest of your training.

I do think of Linda every time we are scrambling boulders and I have to lift the "anchor" up to the next boulder. Makes me laugh! And we have done some major anchor lifting this month. So you are never far from my mind!

Having hike the canyon rim-to-rim, in one day, on numerous occasions, Jerry and I think you have no worries only having one overnight stay in Phantom Ranch. Your list of items in your packs is perfect! Just take your time hiking out (your poles will help a lot)! Hiking out...take a rest break at Indian Garden, as the switchbacks will start once you leave that area.

Don't forget your address book...fill out postcards at Phantom Ranch and they will be stamped and sent out by the mules!

Good luck with the training, hiking the Grand Canyon again, this time with Dale, is still on our "bucket list". Not sure if your first aid kit includes a snake bite kit but from my previous experience hiking the Grand Canyon in college, I'd want to include that in my pack.

IF I may make a suggestion. My brother and his son hiked the Grand Canyon 2 years ago and they used one hiking pole each. It gives you the support you need without the cumbersome feeling of both hands being occupied. Congratulations on your successful training so far. Curt

Great start to your training!! We'll be watching and cheering you on:o))

Just incase you haven't seen this yet. Great way to pre- cyber hike the Kaibab.
