I have a Motosat/Datastorm system on my motorhome and been having problems with it for over a year now. I am trying to find someone who can come out and diagnose the problem and fix it for me. My dish will (most of the time) go up and find my satellite but will not recognize that it has found it so I don't get the Internet or DirecTV. I have found that if I unplug the modem for 10 seconds that it then discovers that it is pointed correctly and gives me the Internet and TV. You might give that a try.

You said that Linda's phone has a good signal. There is a free app called FoxFi that will allow you to create a WiFi Hotspot that uses your plan minutes and you can both connect. Since it is using your plan minutes, there are no additional charges from Verizon. This is nice if you happen to have an unlimited plan. This works well on Verizon. We now use it when traveling around in our car and want to use our tablet, which is WiFi only. In the motorhome we use a Cradlepoint Router with a USB modem (Mellinicom), which is inconvenient to use in the car.

Take the jeep and check out Happy Camp along the Klamath River, quirky little town and a beautiful drive. Also, don't miss the hotel made out of ONE giant redwood tree in Crescent City. The Calvera Redwoods are breathtaking too.

About "Tethering" your computer to your cell phone...before you do it it may be helpful to read P.C. World magazine's September 2012 article that is entitled "The ultimate Android tethering guide" at http://www.pcworld.com/article/261928/the_ultimate_android_tethering_guide.html . Some carriers like it; others do not like it and raise your bill.

I was also going to mention FoxFi app. It uses your data plan. I still have unlimited data on my Droid X and have used this app many times in several states. I am on the Verizon Family plan with an LG Dare as the other phone.
