I'm glad you guys enjoyed the dunes. Diane and I had a 400hp 2 seat sandrail for a few years and spent countless hours on the sand doing the adrenalin rush thing and camping in the Coos Bay and Winchester Bay area. Have fun up and down the coast!!!

Hi Howard & Linda,
Susan and Bob from RV-Dreams Kerrville, Texas Spring Rally.

Your blog on Sand Dunes Frontier brought back memories from my teen-age years. I've lived in Oregon for over 35 years. Growing up, my parents loved to take us to the coast. On one of our trips, we all bundled up and went for a ride at Sand Dunes Frontier...so much fun. They used to have red pick-up-truck like buggies that held about 8-10 people sitting sideways on a bend with backrest. They would take us flying over the dunes in those.

I had a bit of a medical set-back a week ago. Bob and I were walking and I tripped, falling literally flat on my face...I didn't get my arms out for protection. Spent last weekend in surgery and ICU. You can see "I Broke My Face" on http://travelbug-susan.blogspot.com. Am now spending my days resting and recuperating in the 5er.

You just never know what will happen in life.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the Oregon coast. On the South Coast, don't miss Shore Acres State Park. It's particularly spectacular if there is a storm at sea. The waves hit the cliff faces and thunder 50-100' in the air. It's so dramatic if you time it just right. There's even a garden, some history, and an enclosed building to watch the waves booming and crashing (if the weather is nasty).

Hope to see you down the road again.

oops...meant to say *bench* with backrest.

You will love the drive down Hwy 101. The Oregon coast is especially spectacular as is California. And the big Redwoods are memorable. We saw all of that this summer, but did miss the sand dunes. Thanks for the travelog.

Very cool! That sounds like a fun thing to do. We will be in Oregon June-August next year workcamping at Cedar Creek Hatchery. We are really excited to spend time in Oregon.

It is fun discovering all of the "sand dunes" in the USA. We have followed a bit of a similar path when we travel. We are more than familiar with Silver Lake Sand Dunes and Saugatuck Dune Rides in Michigan, since we live in Michigan and camp all over the state. CO was beautiful, too. Hopefully we will see Oregon's sand dunes one of these days. Have fun on your coastal trip. We have been at southern OR coast and it is gorgeous. Sue & Bo
PS: I loved the picture of the small lake and the 4 wheelers riding along the rim!
