Steve and I decided to play golf at the Koasati Pines Golf Club which is part of the Coushatta Casino Resort complex.
It's about 10 miles from the River Bend RV Park, six miles north of Kinder, and one mile north of Coushatta Casino on U.S. 165.
The course is very nice. There are six sets of tees with back tees at pro-level 7700 yards. We opted for the third set of tees at 6700 yards.
There is water on every hole and the course had character as it meandered among the ponds and lakes.
Here is Steve teeing off over water on one of the three holes that has two fairways.
Though I had my share of balls in the water, this wasn't one of those times - just a pose for a pic. :)
The golf carts all have GPS navigation for distances to the greens and other features like water and bunkers.
I was hoping for a round of bogey golf, but it was slightly worse than that with a 93. For being off so long, that wasn't too bad for me. :)
After our round, we headed back to the campground.
Linda & Esther had been out all day in Lake Charles going to thrift shops and consignment stores looking for an outfit for Linda for our theme party at our upcoming rally. They found a gaudy pink dress for about $7 at their first stop at a Goodwill store. But since it was their first stop, Linda hung the dress up where she could find it and they decided they would come back if they didn't find anything else.
Well, they didn't find anything at any of the other stores, so they returned to the Goodwill late in the day. But they scoured the store and couldn't find the dress. They asked the clerks if it had been sold, figuring the clerks would certainly remember it. Finally, one clerk says to the other "Oh yeah, you sold that dress. Remember that drag queen that came in." :)
The ladies arrived back at the campground shortly after we did with only their shopping story in hand. We threw together a quick turkey burger dinner. Well, we kinda let the burgers get away from us while we were talking. So it was more of a charred turkey burger dinner. :)
Then Steve and I drove back to the casino for a 7:00 poker tournament in their 20-table non-smoking poker room. Steve had never played in a tournament, so he was going to give it shot. Unfortunately, they limited the number of players and there was only one seat left after they made us go get "player cards" so we could enter. He let me take the seat and he signed up as an alternate.
Later, the gals came and played slots in the casino's larger-than-most non-smoking room - over 640 machines. Steve never got called as an alternate, so he opted to head back to the RV park with Esther and Linda. He wasn't too upset as they have been traveling pretty hard, and he was also tired from our day in the sun on the golf course.
I played pretty well and reached the final table. But I made a huge mistake and lost half my chips on a hand I should have won. Still, I hung in there for fourth place and won $250. That'll pay for golf and a portion of our trip to the Final Four. :)
Golf on a really nice course and cashing in a poker tournament is a pretty darn good day. :)

The Slot manager at Coushatta is named Warren and is a supper great guy. Next time we go to Coushatta maybe we can take our RV and stay at this new RV park, it sounds like a good spot.
