From Oct. 5 - Nov. 4, we will be on a once-in-a-lifetime 25th anniversary trip to South Africa. We will be spending a week in the beautiful Cape Town area before moving to the spectacular Kruger National Park to view and photograph wildlife for three weeks.
We will have internet access while in Cape Town, but only at two of our five camps (only 4 of our 21 nights) while in Kruger National Park. Of course we have no idea how solid or fast those connections will be, so posting entries and photos may or may not be possible. We will at least try to give brief updates here and on Facebook.
In the meantime, we have posted advance entries that will pop up each day (or at least on many days) giving you an idea of our itinerary. Of course that itinerary is subject to change and the events may not occur in the order posted (or at all), but at least you will have something new to look at until we can update what really happened. :)
Our overnight flight continues. It will finally arrive in Johannesburg (Jo-Burg) between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. With the six hour time difference, it will be 6 hours later than in the U.S. Eastern time zone.
Hopefully, we can get through the jet lag pretty quickly.
From Jo-Burg, we will fly another 800 miles to Cape Town in the southwestern corner of South Africa. At the airport, we'll pick up our rental van and pile in for the ride to our accommodations for the next six nights.
Jackie's sister and brother-in-law own the Durbanville Hills Villa Bed & Breakfast where we'll be staying while in Cape Town.
It looks great on the web. :)
Of course there are African motiffs in the rooms.
I'm sure it will be an early night after all the time on planes. :)
