The parks in New England leave a lot to be desired BUT if you want to see the beauty then you adjust!!! Glad you're enjoying it and I have made notes on several things you've seen & done for us to do next year!
Have fun

We summer vacationed for 20 years in and around the area you are now in. We stayed on the peninsula of Harpswell which there is a back road (Pleasant Hill Rd.?) from where you are now. Great for avoiding the highway. Nice veggie stand on PHR. Brunswick is a great town (Bowdoin College) with a couple of museums:Arctic Explorer Robert Peary and a wonderful art museum. The Bath Maritime Museum (in Bath)is worth the trip a little further up the coast. I would strongly recommend a visit to Popham Beach State Park and the Fort Popham site nearby. A casual walk on Popham with the views of nearby islands and the Seguin Lighthouse are breathtaking. There used to be a decent restaurant near the fort (Spinney's). Good food-great spot. Lots of luck. I know things are weather dependent, and OH by the way we are not Freeport people either. John and Ginnie, Keene, NH

I hope you went to the Patagonia store, across the street from Bean. I worked for Patagonia for 27+.

After 11, go down the steps and sit on the beach - look at the moon and enjoy Casco Bay (no light other than moon and stars reflecting off the calm waves). It is a wonderfully content place.

Love your blog! Hope to be FT in another year. Yippee

be safe...
Rick tucker and lilly too

Can't figure out how you can check out "every campground website from Wells to Camden" in a morning. You must be up on the computer at 5am. I think a short course demonstration in how to do that and still leave the same day is in order at the next rally I can get to. It takes me daysssssssssss :-)

I didn't check them all in one morning. I checked them over several days and started looking at them weeks ago. It took me until the night before to narrow it down, and then we simply made a phone call the morning of travel day. :)
