We got some things done this morning and then we got out and got a little exercise.
Linda powerwalks with her headphones and Droid 2 playing her Pandora radio station. They have a nice basketball court, so I went out to shoot some hoops and then do a little bike riding.
After we got back and had showers, we made a flyer to take to a few of the area campgrounds for weighing services.
But on the way, we took a particularly rough back road and the rattle of the scales was intolerable. We had to turn around to work on a solution for that.
The problem is the scales have internal moving parts. So not only do we have to keep the scales from moving, but we have to put pressure on them to keep the internal parts as still as possible.
A trip to Walmart provided the idea of squeezing some hard foam water floats from the pool department in between. That worked like a charm. :)
Of course, not all the floats were the proper length, so we had to get out the electric knife to cut them down. :)
Now we just have to figure out what to do with the top scale. I originally was going to make the rack a complete box, but somewhere along the line, we determined that wasn't necessary. Now, I wish I would have put a top on it so we had something to hold down the floats. Oops.
Linda and Amy, with wine in hand, sat back and watched Walter and me try to figure out what modifications to make. The cackling was a bit distracting. :)
We ran out of time, so I guess we'll have to fix it tomorrow.
While at Walmart, we bought one of those pre-cooked chickens for dinner. We call it "pickin' chicken" since we tend to just peel the skin off and pick at the carcass. :)
We finished our little thrown together meal and then walked over to Jim & Chris's rig. They had invited us over for a little Wii action - some virtual sports video games.
We started out with some bowling. Linda won the first game with a 151. I won the second game with a 172, but Linda had a 167. Yes, it bothered me that she had the best two-game total. :)
After that, we played a little golf. Jim beat us all and I was last. How humiliating. :)
Then we moved on to ping-pong. Linda & I both are pretty good at real ping pong, and we picked it up quickly. It was quite a battle and it took extra points, but I finally squeezed out a victory. Whew.
We both struggled with the canoe races before giving up on that. Then we watched Jim & Chris battle it out in one of the airplane dogfight games. Finally, the four of us struggled with frisbee golf. Chris & I were way over par, but we still beat Jim & Linda by 10 strokes - we lost a lot of frisbees. :)
That's the second time we've played Wii, and we've enjoyed it both times. But I refuse to get it for ourselves until we get better TVs. And I refuse to get better TVs until either the ones we have die OR we weigh a a few hundred RVs so I'll feel better about spending the money. :)
Well, it was almost 11:00, so we called it a night. We thanked our hosts and headed home.
Tomorrow we have an appointment at 10:00 and some other things to get accomplished. It's supposed to be nice and bit cooler than today's 90 degree afternoon. Guess we'll see. :)
