We had weighing appointments starting at 8:30 this morning and running through noon. Plus we had a couple of others coming in that were going to call us when they got close.
Well, the weather wasn't looking promising. We were hoping that everyone would show up early, and many did. We got through five or six of the dozen scheduled before the rain started.
Then we weighed four in a downpour. We threw on rain gear, but we still got pretty wet. We went through several towels drying off the dials of the scales so we could see the numbers. But the hardest part was keeping the paperwork dry.
Today was a day we should have had the video camera out there. :)
Yesterday I wrote about why we like doing the RV weighing and why it is important. Today was one of those days when we didn't like it quite so much ... but it's still important. :)
Just as soon as we finished with our last appointment around 10:30, we figured we were done until the late afternoon. Nope. Got a phone call. "We're 45 minutes away." So we sat in the Jeep in the rain until that one showed up.
Then we packed everything up, but left our orange traffic cones marking our weigh site. Whew. It was good to be inside and dry. Within seconds. Riiiinnnnggggg. "Hi, we're getting weighed today and we're 5 minutes away." So we drove the Jeep back to the weigh site and drug (or "dragged" for the grammar gurus) the scales back out. Nothin' to do but laugh.
So we weighed that one, and we knew there was still one more to come in, but again we expected them later in the day and they said they could get weighed pretty much anytime during the week. We packed it all up again, including the cones, and went inside where it was dry. We had just peeled our rain gear off. Riiinnngggg. "Hi, we're getting weighed today and we're just pulling into the fairgrounds."
From our vantage point, we could watch them come in, so I directed them to where they needed to be while we threw our shoes back on. Fortunately, the rain had almost stopped, so we didn't need to get back into the rain gear which was hanging and dripping in the shower.
We went back out one last time. We're RVers - we understand arrival times vary and we can't expect folks to pinpoint exact times in advance. So, again, we kept our chins up and went out and did the job with smiles.
Now that was all of the folks coming in for the RVFest Rally that had signed up for weighing in advance. So now we just have a couple more here and there that want to get weighed after having some modifications done on their rigs.
Then we do safety seminars on Thursday for RVFest and we'll probably have a few more folks sign up after that. Then we'll be on our way.
In the afternoon, we were surrounded by wet paperwork hanging everywhere drying out. Paper was clipped to curtains, lampshades, valances, etc. :)
The day cleared up, but we spent our time organizing and emailing reports to Walter & Amy so they could do the data input and print final reports.
In was an uneventful evening. A little TV and Linda whipped up some egg sandwiches for dinner. Then off to bed.
See you tomorrow. :)
I think you can microwave paper to dry it quickly
or convection oven.

Howard & Linda
Your rain weigh day sounds a lot like work.LOL Makes you appreciate those dry days. Maybe you could get a small canopy for a sun shade on hot days, rain cover to help protect paperwork on rain days. Have you started a list for weighing at the rally in Hershey, if so add my name to the list
