Oh, you are in rare form this week, Howard!! These last two journal entries cracked me up this morning!! Marci

Well Howard, you are better than my husband. I give him a list and he comes back with everything else but the things on the list! So, you did well!

You put it very well today. I HATE shopping. I agree with all you said on grocery shopping. My meals are simple so I don't have to worry about "measurements". Thanks for the laugh, it sounds like me.

Howard I know exactly what you mean on the grocery shopping. My Linda learned long ago to make VERY specific lists and expect to probably go back at some time herself to get the stuff I messed up anyway.

I had to laugh when I read the grocery store trip narrative. Last week the list I was given showed "Bottle of Olive Oil". I picked up a bottle of Classico Olive Oil thinking it's classic so that's got to be the right olive oil. Nope, should have gotten "Virgin" Olive Oil. Didn't get crushed tomatos but was safe because they weren't on the list at all.

And then there's the "both getting to the line" at same time, so you let "them" in first....after price checks, then the "oh, this can is dented, got to get a different one", followed by the "your 'govt' issued card does not cover this and there is not enough cash to pay for what is not covered, so what do we need to take off", etc. etc. Enough to drive one crazy!

Of course, if you decide to go "late at night", less crowds, but then you have to fight your way down the isles with boxes of new goods being unloaded, and a ton of workers to go around stocking the shelves....just to find at the end that only 1 or 2 lanes are open..... grrrrr!

And you forgot to mention the "feats of amazing stupidity" in the parking lot! I swear, I believe some people's IQ drops by 30 points when they get to Walmart - and many of them didn't have enough to spare!! Someone needs to conduct a study...

Great post. Thanks for making me laugh out loud!

Kerri in AL :-)

just a note.. i dont care if i have one item i NEVER use the self checkout lanes. they grocery store is not paying ME why should i bag my own stuff. Plus this is doing away w/ jobs while increasing THEIR profits!!!

Wow! That's a lot of text to whine about grocery stores. You certainly have a lot of time on your hands.

Oh my gosh -- this is one of your best posts yet! I laughed until I cried reading about your grocery store outing! I haven't laughed that hard in a very long time.
