Have you even considered getting washer/dryer for the 5er? I am seriously thinking about it now. I just do not enjoy going to the laundry and after reading this, it even makes me think of it more so..
Leno

Your experiences are exactly why we have a washer/dryer in the RV :-)

It was predictable that we'd get the "washer/dryer in the rig" comments. :)

In times like this one, it would have been nice, but we still wouldn't have used an in-house washer in this campground without sewer hook-ups. The washer fills the grey tank too quickly.

We almost bought a washer/dryer up front since the rig came with the connections, but Linda wanted to wait. After four years, she'd still rather go to a local laundromat or do laundry in a campground and get it over with.

Like I tell everyone considering the decision, if you have the cash, don't need the space for storage, and the extra weight of the appliances doesn't make the rig overweight, go ahead and get a washer/dryer. Why not?

But we have a weight issue, we park in lots of places without sewer hook-ups where we wouldn't use it/them, and Linda simply doesn't mind going out to do it. :)

Howard, I'm waiting for the day that you'll finally throw that GPS out the window! :-)

We have a washer /dryer combo and love it... BUT I know many people who would rather go to laundrymats... We camp in a lot of COE & State PArks but I still manage to get my wash done in between... Have a super day!!

OMG - i should have given you a heads-up about Jasper. Several years ago, we got flooded out while camping and took several loads into Jasper to do laundry. The place we finally had to go to was... not a pleasant place. You should have gone backwards to Woodville. I actually wrote the Chambers and told them that they should recommend a laundry mart for anyone starting a new business. :-) only excuse I can give...it's East TEXAS. There's still outhouse here and there.

Does your GPS give you the phone number of the laundromat? Ours does, and we use it all the time to call ahead for pizza when we're traveling. Might have saved you a few stops...

When we travel, I usually know where I'm going, but use the GPS almost exclusively for phone numbers. ...just a tip.

Just think, if it weren't for these "miner" trials and tribulations where would the story be. It has to be the local color in this life that gives us all our stories to tell and add color to our own lives. Enjoy the story. I do. Thanks.

Ron,

EXACTLY!!!!!

Well I can tell you that Barb has no issues doing laundry in the RV while dry camping - she'll at least squeeze in one load. We do have a separate tank for the wash. However, you are right about extra weight - between that and the gen, I've already had the landing jack motor replaced once.

I enjoyed the story. Like I told Linda in chat last night, I probably would have bought new clothes at Wal-mart instead of going into that Laundromat though...hehe.

Howard & Linda, that is exactly why I insisted on the Washer & Dryer in our new 5th Wheel. I don't like going to the Laundry. Every one that I have ever been in is dirty and not kept up. I don't mind giving up some extra weight on other things to be able to do the laundry at home.
I probably would have made Mac take me shopping enstead of doing laundry there...I would have waited til the next stop...LOL
