Hey Howard

Exciting to have you back on the road. Very exciting for my wife and I...we finally sold our house! We close on Monday, Sept 21 and then hit the road. I can't wait to pull over in a site like yours! Be safe!

Glad to hear you are back on the road again, even if for just a few days. Enjoy yourselves as you drive, stop and see the world.

We camped in the very same spot at Walker lake....pretty sure it was the only level spot there! :-)

Hwy 95 south from there to Las Vegas is a very smooth road with several easy grades...and very little traffic....enjoy the trip!

I look forward to reading a book from you -- I'm sure it will be equally enlightening and entertaining!

I've got to say that I would be a little creeped out by your current parking location, although it is beautiful. Be safe!

Glad to hear that you guys will be in Florida this winter! Sure hope we get a chance to meet up while you're here. Safe travels.

Have a safe trip, thnaks for posting that link to Welaka campground. We live in FL and will have to check it out.

I've always like Walker Lake, it's unfortunate the lake is so far from anything. The times we have been there it's been pretty empty of campers so it's a little disconcerting to be out there by yourselves.

Have a safe trip back to Kerrville.

Geez Louise... I've been looking for a 55+ manufactured home community near Jacksonville to move to, but so far haven't been able to find one that looks satisfactory (at least not on the internet) close by. I have found some... one in Satsuma, which isn't that far away from where you're going to be, and a few others in that general area of the state. Further away from Jacksonville than I'd like to be, but close enough to be practicall. If/when I do pull the trigger on this it won't be until after the first of the year. I'll have to raid the retirement fund to do it, to be replenished after our house here sells, and don't want to have to pay GA state income tax, so I'll need to be a Florida resident for most of the year to avoid that.

So,maybe we will (with luck) finally be able to cross paths. I hope so.

You sure know how to make a fella envious. After putting up with "campers" for a few months, I bet the seclusion is very much welcomed, if only for a little while.

Thanks Howard for your journal over the last few months. You have certainly earned your keep and I'm sure you are a lot fitter as a result of all your hard work.
I'll bet that writing a book will give you a lot of pleasure and it will be a success as you have a very engaging style. I assume the book will be RV related or do you have a novel in you that's screaming to get out?

Regards from downunda

I guess we are a bit odd. No one but a Sheriff and deputy at 2:30 AM in WY, while checking on us 'cuz we'd been in the same spot for 4 days, have ever bother us.

We seek out spots like this and have been since Oct 6th 2006. We have 6 solar panels, 6 AGM batteries, a large inverter, Datastorm w/BOW DirectTV, cell phone booster amp and external antenna. We spent 8-9 nights in campgrounds from June 30 2008 until May 17th 2009. We came to visit you in Q last winter but you weren't 'home'. IMO, you need more boondocking and less workcamping (= less expense).
