Howard & Linda,

I sounds like you had a long tiring day, but in the end a satisfying day. I am so envious of your trip!! I can hardly wait to see what the next two days brings.
I have done some canoeing in Texas, mainly the Pecos river west of Del Rio and we has some trying and tiring days, but always satisfying in the end.

Al

Whew! I am worn out just reading your journal. I can't imagine how tired you both really were but I am glad you took the time and effort to report your first day for us all to read. Thank you.

And then what?

I live in Montrose, CO and we have had five extreme winds from Utah that left everything covered with red dust which turned to mud with a little rain following the wind. We looked out to the west and saw the cloud coming each time. Then, it would pass over us and we could see it to the east, over the town. A cowboy joked that he saw a prarie dog about fifty feet up trying to dig a hole. I'm so glad you weren't on your trip during one of these red blasts. We hunkered down in our house each time. Word has it that these were not the usual winds and had not been blowing about since 1966.
