Howard - Are you aware of the gizmo called the Align-A-Site that helps you tell if you will be able to acquire your satellite at any given spot? We have found ours invaluable for this purpose.

I use the Align-A-Site and after a small learning curve it is fabulous. I have a portable dish only and it really makes the chore or finding a suitable place to set it up a no brainer. It also makes alignment a snap. It is a touch pricey but well worth it if your time has value. I recommend it totally.

Harold & Judilyn,

Thanks for the tip on Align-a-site. I have looked at that before and lots of people rave about it. If we had a tripod, I'm sure we would have one.

But since our dish is automatic and on the roof, our use would be limited. When things are working properly, which is almost all of the time, all we have to do is push a button and the satellites are found automatically. :)

Our friends Nita & Eric dropped me an email saying you guys are @ Piney Grove. Sigh -- we had to cancel our reservations there last Sept while staying in Red Bay and I knew we'd regret it. I had site 109 reserved. Take a look at it if you get time and let me know how sick I should actually be. Well maybe I don't want to know. Ha Ha.

FYI - I do read your blog but this is the first time I've commented. Enjoy your visit.
