We arrived in Cabo around 8:00 am. After the cloudy skies in Puerto Vallarta it was nice to see a sunny day.
And we anchored so that this was our view.
The red tender boat made for a nice contrast against the brilliant blues.
It was quite a nice backdrop for a photo. :)
John & Therese, Dan & Sheila, & the two of us boarded a tender and rode to the port marina. We went in search of our own private snorkel trip.
For half the price of a single shore excursion booked through the ship, we got a private boat for the day. We actually had four excursions in one as it was a glass bottom boat tour, it was a Los Arcos tour, it was a coastal highlights tour, and it was a snorkeling tour. :)
I didn't say it was a fancy boat. But it got the job done. :)
Our captain, Daniel, spoke very little English, but he took good care of us and drove slowly through the choppy water past our ship.
We headed out to visit the arch, Los Arcos. There were four huge cruise ships all at Cabo at once. So there were about 10,000 people all ashore taking the various tours.
In this area, snorkelers and divers and kayakers were surrounded by motorboats. Welcome to Mexico! Safety is not quite as much a concern as it is in the U.S.
This would be Lover's Beach where it gets pretty crowded when the ships are in port.
Our captain called this Scooby Doo Rock. It looks just like Scooby Doo facing away from us. :)
Ah, but here is the photo I wanted - Los Arcos.
Then we got a close look at the sea lions on the rocks nearby.
After that we took a thirty minute boat ride along the coast to Santa Maria Bay.
It looked like we were not the only ones trying to get away from the throngs as there were a few boats already there. :)
But the snorkeling was very good along the rocky north side of the bay. And we certainly had a great time in the warm, crystal clear water.
Therese did a little shopping on the beach. :)
Linda & Sheila didn't seem to care too much about the shopping experience.
We didn't want to leave, but we had to get back to the marina for our 4:00 departure. We passed more parasailers on the way.
Here is a distant shot of Los Arcos between two huge Holland America cruise ships.
I had Linda take my picture as we got closer to port. We were all smiling throughout our little private adventure. :)
Back on board, Linda took a nap while I went out and took more photos. It was such a beautiful day and we had a great view from the decks .....
and from the Spinnaker Lounge on deck 12 ....
and from the Endless Summer restaurant on deck 8, our deck.
We all met for dinner in the Versailles restaurant at 5:30. It was another wonderful meal with wonderful service.
Then we took in a show in the Stardust Theater. The dancers and Chinese acrobats were amazing.
But most everyone was tired from our fun-filled day. Too bad because everyone but Linda, Sheila, and I missed the 11:00 Chocoholic Buffet. :)
Everything was made of chocolate ...
except for the really neat ice sculptures.
We were actually quite disciplined at the buffet. Some folks were carrying two plates stacked as high as they could get them and taking them to their cabins. We were thinking "They'll be up all night!" :)
Again, the stays at each port are not really long enough to get a feel for everything. But Cabo San Lucas was easily our favorite stop for what time we had.
Tomorrow is a day at sea as we head back toward Los Angeles. Still having quite a good time. Wish you were here! :)
Howard,
Great to have you back and the pictures are superb!
