Sounded like a GREAT day to me. Great fun. Liked the pictures of the evening fire and sunset. We're jealous, but happy for the two of you. :-)

Wow, sounds like a terrific Monday to me as well! What a ride you had...can't wait for our new Sea Eagle to arrive one day next week. Think we'll hold off on the rapids for just a bit though. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like you had fun, but...

Shame on you guys for tying the life jackets to the boat and not around your bodies. Especially when running rapids - class III at that!

We have type 3 jackets for our double hard-shell kayak that we use on flat water. If we were to do what you did on the Rio Chama with the possibility of being dumped into class III rapids I'd want the type 5 jackets - 20# more floatation and the behind the head floatation/head protector - and we would be wearing them.

Tom,
You are quite right. We need to get some good life jackets if we are going to be doing rapids like that.

We only have the ugly old awkward horse collar type we got cheap. The law in every state we have been in says you have to have personal flotation on the boat. And we took took the cheapest way to legal compliance.

We are comfortable on flat water not wearing PFDs (especially with the inflatable boat), but we really should have them on whitewater. Point well taken. :)
