It was Father's Day morning, so the first thing I did was phone my Dad. I told him that we would stop by after I picked Linda up at the airport.
As the morning progressed, we got an email from a reader about ABC News Nightline seeking full-timers for an interview. Then we got another email and a third later in the day about the same announcement. What the heck. I called and left a message at the number provided.
Once I made that phone call, it prompted me to go after some more publicity for RV-Dreams.com, Life On Wheels, Interactive RV Magazine, and the full-timing lifestyle.
I emailed the fellow at the Louisville Courier-Journal who did a story on us just before we hit the road to see if he wanted to do a follow-up.
I emailed the local television reporter that was interested in doing a story on us, but got in the game too late before we left last August.
I emailed the publicist that hooked us up with the Courier-Journal and WAVE TV, and was close to getting us on the TODAY Show until some breaking news stories changed their focus.
I emailed Tom Stinnett who owns the largest RV dealership in the Louisville area. Mr. Stinnett serves on the RV Dealers Association (RVDA) Education Foundation Board of Directors, on the RVDA Board of Directors, as Chairman of the RV Assistance Corporation (RVAC), and co-chairs the Go RVing Coalition. Hmmm. He probably isn't going to have time for us. :)
Also, before Linda left, we were working on getting some magnetic signs for our truck. This will be our first attempt at anything like that, so we are not really sure what we want or if they will look good enough to meet our standards. We did, however, come up with a new slogan to accompany the RV-Dreams.com logo: "Free Yourself! Change Your Life! Live Your Dream!" We figured that just about sums it up. :)
We should be good to go once we get our logo clothing ordered. :) Now I just need to get back to going through the website to do more tweaking and updating. We are just a few days away from getting back in a campground setting, so maybe I can get that focus back very soon. :)
I let the morning get away from me and did not get the rig cleaned like I wanted to before Linda got home. But at least it was clutter free. :)
Linda had to get up at 4:45 am to make her early morning flight from Jacksonville. Her Southwest Airlines plane arrived at the gate in Louisville right on schedule a little after noon. Southwest may be "no frills", but they are the best (in our experience) at on time arrivals and at getting baggage off the plane quickly. Plus they have a plane painted like Shamu the Killer Whale, so they must be good. :)
It was so good to see my 20-year bride back home! You would think that we could use a few days apart given our close quarters, but a few hours here and there to do our own thing once in awhile is all we need.
She was exhausted and really wanted to get home and get a shower. We stopped by my parents' house to find things progressing nicely. It will be a long time before they are completely settled, but they are getting things done.
After our visit and a final "Happy Father's Day" wish, we were back home by early afternoon. Linda got refreshed and took a nap while I watched the U.S. Open. What a sad ending (except for the winner) as player after player gave away their opportunities. It was extraordinary to watch, but painful as well.
We spent the rest of the day lounging around as more rain came. I'm not a father, but having Linda back home was a pretty good Father's Day present nonetheless. :)
Glad Linda came home safely. Is she going to post any wedding pictures?
