Thank goodness everyone was OK. I couldn't agree with you more on the seat belt usage and how dangerous it is to ride in a trailer! Our kids have wanted to ride in our fifth wheel but we have always said NO. We would rather take two vehicles since most of our trips are less than a day's drive. Safety is always our #1 concern.

I agree 100%. Seat belts saved our lives I'm sure, when a semi cut us off in Florida on I75. We rolled our van and trailer and had we not had our seat belts on I'm sure we would have been seriously injured if not worse. We walked away without a scratch only bruises were the seat belts held us in place.

In some states like Idaho, where we live, it is lawful to ride in a 5th wheel but not a travel trailer. This is a very stupid law and should be changed. As Howard said, no one should ride in any trailer. I'm glad no one was seriously hurt.

My husband being a long-time law enforcement officer, he has seen the horrors of trailer and motorhome accidents. BOTH of these vehicles in even a fairly minor freeway accident usually explode apart pretty easily. Our children were never allowed to ride in the fifth wheel. I never really understood the logic that people get motorhomes so they can utilize the living space while driving... Terribly dangerous. Also, a flying toaster can be deadly at 65 MPH. Please wear your seatbelts so that if you have an accident it's just an inconvenience and an insurance claim.
