I may have missed this but wondered if you actually see any monies from the Google ad side bar. I'm looking into that for my site. As always, enjoying your posts. Got worried this AM when you were not posted when I got up (in CA) Ahhhh, the pressure of your readers. Take care and thanks for your writings.

Joan,
We just received a check from Google for $238 for March & April. We earned $106 for May.

Of course that is from both the Journal and the main website at RV-Dreams.com. In fact, even though the daily traffic on the Journal is higher, most of the clicks on Google ads occur on RV-Dreams.com.

We get about a fourth of the revenue from the Journal, but the potential is higher in the long run.

It takes lots of traffic to make the ads worthwhile because the percentage of clicks on the ads is very low compared to the page views. For example, we had 33,000 "hits" in May, but only 370 clicks, a little over 1%.

Yes, we could generate more clicks by using different type ads and more aggressive ad placement, but I don't want either site to look overly commercial. We have to generate some income just to keep the sites running, but I would prefer to have no ads at all if we had a sustaining income. :)

Every little bit helps. :)
