Important boondocking information. Do you know what kind of converter your Cambridge has? Hopefully it has a prgressive dynamics brand. Why? You can purchase a Charge Wizard for about $25 that turns your converter into a 3 stage battery charger. Why is that important? Without a 3 stage charger it will take your batteries a very, very long time to charge up with your generator. In addition, your batteries can be boiled dry when constantly plugged into shore power. Go here for some informative reading. www.progressivedyn.com. LOW may have covered this already.

Wow Howard, long pants AND shoes???!!!

Small world - Stan is a 'friend' from Idaho I met on Open Roads 5ver posts. Turns out we go to the same park in Glenns Ferry Idaho.

Howard,

While you're at it, check the torque on your truck wheels as well. Most places just use air wrenches and over tighten the lug nuts. This could be a problem if you have to change a tire on the road.

Hey Howard: If you turn off your propane while on the road, you won't have any refrigerator...(Powered by propane when AC not on) :)

I had heard the same thing about turning off the propane while traveling. What I don't understand is what happens to the fridge once you turn off the propane? Will the food not spoil if the fridge is off? I have always left my propane on while I travel for that very reason. Now that I think about it, I have had my propane on and the fridge running everytime I filled the truck at a gas station. Wow could that be dangerous or what?

Boondocking is a way of life in Idaho (if you want to stay at the gorgeous spots in the mountains). 6 volt batteries, solar & inverter have gotten us by for over 10 days :)

See?! This is why I have avoided tech talk and stick to financial & legal issues and fun stuff. lol :)

Denny & Don (and others),
Here is the deal with turning off the propane. According to Mac The Fire Guy, traveling with the propane on increases the danger in accidents and in the case of a fire that may occur while driving. According to him, all modern RV refrigerators will keep items cold and frozen for eight hours.

Based on Mac's credentials that follow, I don't need to know anything else. :)

"Mac McCoy has 33 years of fire safety experience. He has a BS degree in Fire Science and a Masters degree in Fire Administration. Mac served as a firefighter, paramedic, Captain, Assistant Chief of Training, Deputy Sheriff, and for 12 years as the Fire Training Coordinator of Oregon's Fire Marshal's Office and Public Safety Academy. Mac has taught firefighting skills and techniques to civilians, military personnel, firefighters and law enforcement in both the United States and abroad."

Good enough for us. :)

I need a "Yes Dear" t- shirt for my husband!!
