Another gorgeous, warm day. Linda and I were invited to play nine holes with two other couples today at the Little Cypress nine-hole course.
We met around 9:15 and it turned out there were three other couples: Dolan & Doris, Nelson & Ann, and Jim & Donna. Surprisingly, there was no one else on the course. Back in Louisville, there is no course around that is not packed every weekend morning over 60 degrees.
Linda had not played since August and was a little uncomfortable playing with three strangers. She usually feels a little better if I play with her and coach her. I'm a pretty good teacher and she listens well - on the golf course. :)
If I were a little better player, I might offer lessons at some of the RV parks. A couple of people I have played with have asked - maybe I'll do it in exchange for greens fees. :)
Linda played well and even parred a hole! I drove the ball great again, but my short game was horrible. But we had a great time getting to know the other couples. After golf, we went to lunch at the "local dive" (as Linda calls it), the Pioneer Restaurant. For ten bucks we had a huge lunch with leftovers for later. We really enjoyed talking with Donna & Jim at lunch (we had to split up for two tables). They lived in Cincinnati for several years and Jim did sales around the Louisville area. They have been full-timing for six years now. (I have got to do a better job of remembering the camera to get photos of the wonderful people we meet.)
After lunch, we ran to Wal-mart for some staples and then home. At home, Linda took a book outside and I followed her with the laptop. Before too long, we were both asleep in our loungers under the awning. I napped for over an hour, and Linda moved inside for a two hour nap. It was an afternoon of just "being." Very nice.
Later, we rode our bikes for a couple of miles. Then I watched golf on TV and the end of the Daytona 500. Linda went to Bingo.
A very laid back afternoon and evening. Tomorrow I have to do some administrative stuff, so it's looking like canoeing on Tuesday or Wednesday. How about that? A nice little, short entry for a change. :)
