Washington has had way below rainfall the last 2 months so I am not surprised that the rain forest is looking dry. I stayed at the National Park campground many years ago and while the weekends were full and crazy, during the week it was not to bad, we even had a heard of elk pass by our site. Hope you enjoy the rest of your visit in Washington.

I'm not surprised at the popularity of the Hoh area. It was not nearly so crowded even in summer 20 years ago. I see you were there on a sunny day. That's not uncommon in July and early August. Thanks for the trip down memory land from my backpacker days, especially along the Queets.

I'm reading your blog backwards. I am not sure where you are heading next, but I hope the Sol Duc Falls Loop hike is on your agenda. Check our blog for details.

I can totally appreciate that “going through the motions” feeling. Not happens sometimes and always surprises me when I’m in a place that normally would blow me away but I just do t feel it. Never know if it’s the place or how I am feeling that day.
