Bathroom Floor Project - Day 4
Today Linda and Karen decided to measure and cut tile so they could lay it all tomorrow.
They laid several full tiles yesterday, but today they were going to have to do a lot more measuring and cutting and piecing the jigsaw puzzle together. And they didn't want to bounce back and forth between cutting and dealing with the mortar.
So they used their new, larger cutter and scored and cut almost all the remaining pieces they needed.
In the meantime, our black tank was full, and I needed to empty it in the septic tank clean-out we had put in last spring. So, I filled up the blue boy and made my first trip.
Uh oh. Problem. The ladies hadn't put the rag back in the toilet opening, so the smell from me dumping the blue boy filtered through the pipes and overwhelmed them in the bathroom. So, I had to quit in mid-black-tank-dump. Oops.
Now they want me to wait to finish until they are finished and the toilet is put back in place. At least we should have enough room in the tank to get us through the next couple of days.
After airing out the bathroom, they continued cutting and placing tile, and by the end of the day, they had all the tile cut except for the closet.
They will have a few more pieces to cut in the morning, and then they'll hope to get all the tile laid tomorrow.
Today was a shorter day because we all had evening plans.
Linda & I were meeting Russ & Betsy for dinner at 6:00. They attended our Spring Rally in 2015 and are now full-timers. They worked at Amazon in Kentucky this past pre-Christmas season and they are heading up to Maine for a job this summer, but they've spent the winter in Florida and were passing through Jacksonville.
We met at Epik Burger, and had a wonderful evening. We were there about three hours and eventually parted with the usual hugs and handshakes.
Great seeing you guys again. :)
Bathroom Floor Project - Day 5
Today Linda & Karen mixed their mortar with a tiny assist from me.
And they laid all of the rest of their tile.
They did a great job.
And to turn a phrase "It's all over but the grouting". :)
The sisters are tired and sore and not looking forward to tomorrow's grouting, but the project is almost complete. Well done, ladies. :)
