Once again, I was up early and headed out to the beach for the surise. And once again, I was the only one from our group. Apparently, 7:00 a.m. is way too early for all these other full-timers that have gotten comfortable sleeping in as late as they want. :)
Here's today's video.
Unlike yesterday, there were no clouds to provide additional color, but that didn't keep it from being another gorgeous morning.
The gentle, rolling waves broke up the sun's reflection on the Atlantic.
I took one more shot as I walked back through the sand dunes and sea oats ....
toward the campground.
After uploading photos, doing a little writing, and returning several emails, we drove up to Myrtle Beach to check out a couple of the mega-RV resorts.
We are starting a search for a place that might be able to host an RV-Dreams Reunion Rally in 2015. It will be only for folks that have attended an RV-Dreams Rally up to that point, and it will be social rather than our usual heavy focus on education. The hard part is figuring out how many sites we might need. :)
Anyway, after visiting two of the large Myrtle Beach RV parks, we determined they wouldn't work. We are extremely picky. :)
Back at the campground, I looked at possibilities for a group paddle tomorrow. Several of us have Sea Eagle inflatables, and we're looking to go out. However, beind so close to the ocean, everything is affected by the tide. Play the tides wrong, and paddling can be a problem.
Around 4:30, our group gathered at Jim & Dee's site. Some people brought stuff they were going to get rid of, so it was a mini swap meet. I went with no intention of taking anything, but Paul had a nice bicycle pump and I needed a replacement for mine.
After swapping stuff, we had a weenie roast over the campfire.
Here are a few of the others' blogs so you can follow along:
- Jim & Dee - Tumbleweed
- George & Laurie - Owens On The Road
- Paul & Marti - R Sanity RV Adventures
- Mike & Terri - Forever Young
- Jim & Judy - The Meandering Maddox's
Of course if you go down the sidebar on "Tumbleweed", you will see links to enough RV blogs to keep you busy for a long, long time. :)
In addition to the hot dogs, Neil & Nancy brought pepperoni, so we had to try roasted pepperoni chips.
After we had stuffed ourselves with hot dogs and related weenie roast sides and condiments, we uncovered several sinful desserts.
That required what Linda calls the "dessert stomach" which allows you to eat dessert even though the main course may have "filled you up". :)
We sat and talked around the fire, and Linda began the game of humming a few bars of a song and everyone guessing. We went through the standard TV show theme songs, and a few others.
Eventually, around 8:15, I reached what we call "my human quota" and departed for the evening. Others trickled away, but Linda stayed with the group until about 10:00.
Tomorrow, we're going to do a group paddle and have a pizza night. And I think Linda & I might join the morning bird walk at the park.
Until next time. :)
