Today started out like a typical Friday. Randy and I did the Honey Wagon and bathroom cleaning.
But, after that, I was off for a few hours so I could help out with check-ins and traffic control at the office during the late afternoon and early evening.
Linda started around 2:00 and worked until 9:00. She was still taking phone calls from people asking if we had any openings.
In addition to it being the Fourth of July weekend, the Momboosa Music Festival is also being held here in Chester. It seems those attending the music festival were a little late on making lodging arrangements and there are very few places, if any, to stay. We heard from one guest that the local hotels were allowing people to set up tents on their lawns. :)
All in all, things went pretty smoothly. I did have a run-in with some folks that got pretty upset when I wouldn't let them in to see their friends and explained the $5 per person visitor fee.
Upon arrival, every single camper is told the visitor policy in explicit detail. We will not let any visitors into the campground unless the camper tells us in advance specifically who they are expecting, and they have to pay the visitor fee up front so we can have a visitor car tag ready when the expected visitors arrive.
You wouldn't believe the number of people that show up to visit their friends and the friends (our campers) didn't know they were coming for sure. Of course, we still have the carloads of people that show up at our entrance looking for other people they aren't even sure are here at all.
So I had one carload that was ranting and raving and cussing because I wouldn't let them in. They told me they used to camp here and assured me they would never camp here again. That was good news. :)
My only other real issue for the day were three boys that I had told one time a day over the last five days they had to have on bike helmets to ride in the campground. I'd finally had enough, and figured out where their parents were staying.
I explained to the parents that I didn't want to have to get them involved, but the kids refused my warnings numerous times. At first the parents said our rules weren't clear about the helmets, but I highlighted the relevant part.
We have the ability to tag campers with a "Do Not Rent To" comment in the system. The parents, who really like it here, took things far more seriously when I explained that possibility. And we had no more issues with those boys. :)
Later on, I helped a guy staying in the Quail Cabin get connected to the internet. They were really nice folks and they brought Linda & I a bowl of chicken tortilla soup they made for dinner. :)
Eventually, our day was done and we only had one campsite that had not yet checked in. So far, we've had zero no-shows for the weekend.
I had planned to take some pictures during the day, but it was just one thing after another, and I didn't get it done.
Once Linda & I headed home for the evening, I did get this shot of the moon glowing on the lake.
Maybe I can get some more shots tomorrow. :)
The good teamwork from yesterday carried over to today and everything went pretty well. Considering the full campground, I've had to deal with very few issues and most people have been very courteous and quiet. Hopefully, that will continue. :)
