Lots Of Activity & Future RV-Dreams Gatherings - (Pagosa Springs, CO)
We had to clean two cabins today. One was a scheduled check-out and one was unexpected.
The guy who broke his ankle yesterday broke it in two places and he had to get back home to Tulsa to get into surgery as fast as possible. So the boys left first thing this morning.
Glen is building a loft across half of the lodge so we can add a few more beds. He has two helpers here and two electricians arrived to work on wiring during the process.
In the Poma way, Linda served lunch to all the workers and prepared dinner for them as well. We have a half box of Palisades peaches, so Linda made her Ultimate Peach Cobbler for dessert.
In addition, Karen, Linda, & I hammered out new policies on Groups, Hunters, & Cancellations. Those discussions always take a long time.
One guest couple from Wisconsin came up to the Ranch House to use the internet to plan the next part of their vacation. We helped them with routes and suggestions and showed them photos of some of the places we have been along their trek north.
We also had some walk-ins checking the place out. It was a pretty typical day. All the things we have planned to do never seem to get done. :)
Around 5:30 I took another guest fishing. John, a lawyer from Carlsbad, NM, drove us to a spot on the river at my direction. We both caught one nice rainbow each, but nothing more.
Later, we picked up his wife Cheryl and went to the Windmill Pond. Fish were surfacing everywhere, but they didn't seem to like what we were trying to feed them.
And that took care of the day as we got back to their cabin after dark.
Next week, we are going to check out a potential Colorado location for a possible June 2009 Rally.
We really liked the way things went in Branson. So we will attempt to keep the rallies relatively small (around 50 rigs). We will search for RV parks used to holding rallies as the assistance really makes things easier for us. We will look at locations with character that have full hook-ups. We want to ensure there are facilities for folks to gather during "free time".
We just can't bring ourselves to do big rallies at fairground-type places just yet. We may some day, but for now I think our niche is the family-type atmosphere, the opportunity for the group to interact, and a little education sprinkled with a few vendors and some on-site entertainment.
In addition to the 2009 Rally, we have been kicking around an informal gathering of RV-Dreamers in Quartzsite, AZ this winter. Since we haven't yet been there, we are open to suggestions about dates and locations. We may need a good scout to find us a place. :)
And speaking of informal gatherings, some of our folks in the Chat Room have already made reservations for March 2009 at Buckhorn Lake Resort in Kerrville, TX. If interested, there is a thread in the Forum: Buckhorn Lake Resort Gathering. Or you can just pop into the Chat Room one evening to get details.
As of now, we won't be in Kerrville, but you never know. :)
More info to come. Stay tuned. :)

Call me crazy, maybe I missed something, but I found Quartzite to be an oversized flea market. I sure wasn't impressed. It was crowded and I didn't see anything that attracted me. But then obviously with the crowds there, other people must have liked it. Maybe I need to go back again, just in case I was wrong.

If you are planning a rally in Quartzsite the first thing is to spell it correctly. Just having a little fun with Ya. Take Care,
Ron
