Another gorgeous morning in the mountains. I took an extra couple of hours this morning to do some website stuff and return a few emails - way behind on that again.
We decided to head into Pagosa around 2:00. Linda worked on bracelets so she could get another one done before we went to the post office. I decided to do some late morning fishing on another section of the Weminuche River.
In the first five minutes I caught another trout. This time I had the camera. :)

It's not easy getting the fish out of the water, taking a picture while it wiggles, and getting it back in the water as soon as possible. The last thing I wanted to do was injure it.
I fished for a couple hours without getting another hit, but I could see some big fish. This little river is a lot deeper than it looks and holds some large trout.
It was getting time for me to go and the clouds were rolling in over the mountains, so I decided to take a few pictures.
Lots of fish in this bend in the river by these rocks where I rested my rod.
Downriver looking back at the mountains and the afternoon clouds.
To get to this fishing spot, I had to drive the Jeep and then scramble down a pretty steep hill.
The above shot is a view of the winding river from the Jeep.
Right after that shot, the rain and hail started to fall. Back at the rig, I got my shower and we started the 25 mile drive into Pagosa. Now the dirt road was muddy and the Jeep was filthy by the time we got to town. Oh well.
Our first stop was at the Verizon store to see about getting my cell phone replaced - it also kicked the bucket after dumping our canoe in the rapids a week ago or so.
We are now finding out that a lot of the new cell phones are not coming with a port to plug in our amplifier. After a discussion of our options, we decided to wait until next week after the store moves and gets in some additional equipment for us to test.
Next was the post office. For anyone that purchased cookbooks or hats in the last week and up through today, all orders were shipped this afternoon. We are down to 20-something cookbooks and we probably won't re-order, so don't wait too long if you want one. :)
At 4:00, we met with the Karen and Peggy, the ranch's accountant. We got some questions answered and we all agreed to go forward with some more automation of accounting and procedures.
After the meeting, we stopped for something to eat at Tequila's Mexican on the San Juan River in downtown Pagosa. The food was pretty good, and the views from the outdoor area overlooking the river, the hot springs, and the continental divide aren't too shabby either.
After dinner we walked down by the river. A couple of dudes with a rope were boogie boarding in the rapids.
We continued to walk down to the foot-bridge over the river. Two sets of three small planes in formation flew over, and we could see the vendors setting up for the holiday weekend art & craft show. Apparently, they have quite a Fourth of July celebration.
View back upriver from the foot-bridge.
The San Juan River with Tequila's on the left and The Springs on the right with the mountains in the background. Not a bad scene for a downtown. :)
After making the weekly stop at the City Market for groceries and topping off the gas tank, we headed back to the ranch. The scenery along the drive tends to make up for the bad road.
Mountain peaks, lakes, and rivers all along the way.
It doesn't take much time in town for us to be ready to get back to our little ranch in the Weminuche Valley. :)
A leisurely evening and we were asleep by 10:00.
Tomorrow, we will have our own little Fourth of July celebration at the ranch with some family-style grilling. Nice and laid back - just how we like it. :)
We wish all of you a very happy holiday and may your American Dream come true. :)

How about June's Financial Report? We all wait with baited breathe!!!!
Have a great day.
:)

Howard, you should look into lulu.com. It's a self-publishing outfit that publishes on-demand. When an order comes in a book is printed and shipped. No order, no book, no charge. I believe it's called 'Self-publishing'. Sounds like a perfect fit for your cookbook.
