Productive Day Of Rally Prep - (Wyandotte, OK)
Today we just concentrated on getting a few more Rally details taken care of.
Linda finished preparing the nametags. But before she prints them she asks that the Rally attendees go to the Rally Attendees thread on the Forum to verify spelling.
Also, we will be indicating the "full-timers" on the nametags, so please check to see if we have you properly designated on that same Forum page. Several folks are now full-timers that weren't at the time of registration. We know we changed some of the "statuses", but may not have gotten everyone. :)
And, on that same thread, Linda has posted basic instructions on what to do when you arrive at the Rally site.
And finally she has asked that folks arriving prior to June 11 post on that thread when you have arrived and what site you are in.
There will be more information posted on the Journal and on the Forum as we get closer.
While she was doing all that, I was doing the speaker/vendor/sponsor contact thing gathering a little more information and making sure we are all on the same page.
We are just trying to get as much administrative work done as possible before we get to Branson so we can spend more time having fun with everyone.
The Rally has been a lot of work and it was sad to see so many have to cancel. But we are getting really, really excited to see many of our RV-Dreams Family again and for the first time! :)
In the afternoon, we took a little trip to the town of Miami, OK to do laundry, fuel up, run to the post office, and hit the Super Wal-mart.
Everything was going fine until we were on the way back. Then Linda started rattling off all the little details for the Rally and how we need to write a script so we don't forget anything.
Here we go. I knew when we made public we were going to have a Rally that this dreaded time would come. The time when "The Worrier" would come out and drive me absolutely crazy. :)
I made the mistake of telling her to "Calm down, it'll all be fine, it'll be a laid-back event, it doesn't all have to be scripted". In my usual sarcastic way, I gave over-simplified examples of the way things would go. "See, no big deal."
Stupid boy. :)
I made a quick recovery before the blood shot from her eyes. "Just tell me what you want me to do to help you feel in control."
"That's what I need to hear", she responded with a "Now, that wasn't so hard was it?" look.
Why I even try to present my case is a mystery. :)
I make fun, but our two styles mesh well in the long run. It's like "Broadway Drama meets A Night At The Improv". :)
In the end I suspect we will have a very organized event that will feel pretty laid back. One thing I know for sure is there will be lots and lots of laughs and a good time. :)
After our little two-minute banter, we had a pleasant ride home. Linda threw a frozen pizza in the oven and I took the truck to fuel up.
We just relaxed the rest of the evening.
Tomorrow, I'm sure we will be getting that detailed script written. :)

Froxen pizza, hmm Linda is that in the new RV Cookbook? :) .... Don

Howard, I learned a long time ago that no mater what you say to calm your mate it will be wrong! I just mantain a steady stare into the blue and try to shake my head in the proper direction. BE SURE to nod or shake correctly because this could be Misconstrued to mean you don't care or your not listening.
Maybe next year I can give a class on this Technique.

Actually, I am with Linda on this one. Your "scripting" will probably uncover items you never even gave a thought to. And it will serve as a great guide if you have future rallies. Just don't forget to update it a day or two after the Rally when you have enough energy to move out of the recliner.
